Beltango - Milonga para un' armonica / La Locura 2021
Beltango was founded in Belgrade, Serbia, 1998, by professor, bandoneonist and composer Aleksandar Nikolic.
Quinteto Beltango presents all abundance of tango repertoire. Apart from traditional tango pieces, compositions of the tango nuevo trend of Astor Piazzolla and modern tango, they also present their own Beltango compositions from "Balkango" opus.
They have been equally successful in performing on large concert podiums, symphonic halls, theater stages, classical chamber halls, tango balls, gran milongas, festivals as well as in other places where the spirit of tango revives.
They say: "We love what we do together for more than 25 years. Don't be surprised. World of Beltango is sometimes very traditional, sometimes very unique and totally different, but all the time adorable and very dancable. We try to put our souls, our dreams and all our feelings inside of tango ... and ... magic happens, energy explodes ... Listen, dance, enjoy and follow us !!!"
Janja joined the young emerging tango community already in the previous millennium.
Teaching in their vivid 100%tango school, the organization of countless events spontaneosusly led her to take creative care of music for dancers, too. The first international milonga when she was a DJ: 2004. She is the co-founder and creator of the Ljubljana Tango Festival since 2005. Janja’s approach as Tango DJ is to create vibrations in the air, pleasant vital energy, support for dancers to indulge in a loving flow of music that leads to attractive encounters - with themselves.
Jamie is not a “strictly Golden Age” DJ, although she is comfortable and knowledgeable with that music. Her main criteria are: danceability (as measured by “are the maximum number of leaders on the floor?”), energy (which she modulates in waves), appropriateness for the venue (“what motivates the dancers?”), what music has been played before (she listens/dances to all the DJ’s to choose music that is both “fresh” and yet fits the atmosphere), and most importantly, play songs that “thrill” the dancers and keep them on the floor in a euphoric state. She dances with everyone through the music and interacts with the dancers.
Fashions come and go! At a DJ-set he tries to catch the mood of the moment by observing the dancers and translate this feedback into the tanda. Diversity and changing impulses are the keywords. He likes to think of colours and shapes like when you paint a picture. You start at a certain point and let the whole thing evolve. Maybe you tell a story, maybe you are abstract but the most important is that you express something through the music you play and that you make the people dance!
Melina has been dj-ing - and greatly enjoying it - since 2004. She has worked at countless encuentros, festivals and milongas all over Europe and the USA. Her top priorities are uncompromising danceability as well as a choice of music that systematically varies rhythmic and lyrical tandas and spices the mixture with a little bit of drama, whilst presenting classical music from the late 20s to the 50s in tandas and with cortinas. www.melinasedo.com
Anne was dancing and deep-diving into tango music for years when friends from her local community in Munich asked her to perform as TDJ. So there she is! Inspired from her most recent trip to Buenos Aires she is excited to bring you onto the dancefloor and make your feet burn with her favorite traditional tandas and spicy cortinas.
